Ketra Renders Museum-Quality Light Right at Home

Scottsdale Shade & Light Offers High CRI Lighting to Keep Every Color Honest After Dark
A soft white bulb can leave a cream sofa reading pale green, or turn a carefully chosen paint chip a half-shade cooler than it looked on the sample board.
Most LED fixtures are judged on brightness alone, and color accuracy rarely makes the spec sheet, even though it’s the factor that determines how a finished room reads once the sun goes down. For a room built around specific fabric and stone samples, that gap between what a light promises and what it shows can undo months of selection work.
Ketra was engineered to close that gap, and for our Scottsdale and Paradise Valley clients, it’s the reason a finished room still reads the way it was designed to look at 9 p.m., not only at noon.

MORE ON KETRA: Tunable LED Lighting is the Gold Standard in Luxury Homes
What Does CRI Measure?
Color Rendering Index scores how accurately a light source reveals an object’s true color compared to daylight. Most standard LEDs land in the 70s or 80s, which sounds fine until a red throw pillow goes dull under a lamp.
Ketra fixtures achieve a CRI of 90 or higher across their full color range. Fixtures maintain that rating during a warm evening and a crisp morning alike, with red fabrics and woods looking vibrant and deep, and skin tones reading correctly under a vanity mirror light.
What is a Spectral Engine?
A typical tunable fixture offers something between warm and cool, with the light falling somewhere along that spectrum. Ketra’s four-channel spectral engine goes further by blending red, green, blue, and white light sources to reproduce a specific spectrum rather than approximate one.
Lights can produce a warm candlelight glow or the midday sky down to a specific wavelength. It’s a museum-quality rendering rather than merely turning a dial to warm or cool white light.
Preserve Design Intent Long After Installation
Natural stone and layered finishes depend on high-CRI light to show depth. Pair Ketra with Lutron control, and living spaces shift into a bright, high-CRI setting. Morning gatherings or warmer evenings won’t compromise color accuracy throughout the day. Nothing about the room’s palette changes when the light does; only the ambiance does.
At Scottsdale Shade & Light, we’re Lutron Diamond Elite dealers serving the local Scottsdale area and Paradise Valley. We’re constantly impressed by the unique character Lutron and Ketra can add to a smart home, and it remains one of the few lighting platforms that lets a finished room hold its color under every scene we program, not only the one it was photographed in.
For a designer coordinating fabric, paint, furniture, and finishes on the same project, lighting consistency is what keeps a walkthrough looking the way it did on the mood board once the client moves in.
How It Fits Into an Existing Lighting Plan
Ketra fixtures work alongside standard Lutron dimming, so a home doesn’t need every fixture on the same platform to achieve high-CRI light in the rooms that need it most, such as a kitchen island or a gallery wall built around specific finishes. We help homeowners and designers decide where CRI earns its place and where a standard Lutron fixture already covers the room.
